For most of us, we view metals as they are: things are either metallic (made of metal), or they are not. But, do you know that metals exist in many different forms? Incoloy® was first introduced in the market in the 1950s as an economical alternative to another superalloy, Inconel® which is predominantly nickel-chrome with over 50% nickel content. At that time, nickel was a costly metal, so Incoloy® was primarily invented to include lower nickel content (made with less than 50% nickel) in order to reduce the overall production cost while still retaining its anti-rust and heat transfer properties.
Composed of nickel, iron and chromium, Incoloy® is widely used for its ability and strength to withstand high temperatures, resist oxidation and other types of high temperature corrosion.
These properties make this alloy an ideal choice for the manufacturing of industrial products such as electric heat pipes and other high-temperature resistant products such as water heaters.
